Oil Spill the latest

President Obama's latest statement ensured the public that the United States has been on top the the oil from from the "get go."
Many believe this statement has boxed the government in a corner. If all goes terribly wrong they will look directly at who was on it from the get go. Brain Wingfield of Forbes is quoted saying, "For every day the disaster and clean up efforts continue, the administration is squarely on the books." In a nut shell he agrees until the spill and clean up is all over our government will be looked at. You cannot blame President Obama for what he did, United States in known for poking their nose in everything. They are not taking the blame for what happen but simply letting everyone they know what's going on and doing all they can do to help. Over all I believe President Obama made the right decision.

Top 10 Movies

10. Sherlock Holmes
This mystery movie keeps you guess till the end. Sherlock Holmes, played by Robert Downy Jr. does a great job with his character. He is funny and full of energy on the screen. It was good enough to make my top ten but not any farther.
9. Blind Side
This inspirational movie is a great story about a kid living on the streets given a second chance by playing football. My favorite actor in this movie is Sandra Bullock. After the first time you see it it loses some of its inspiration thought which puts it an 9.
8. Remember the Titans
Another sports movie is at my number 8. This older movie, came out in 2000, the movie shows the connection between the white football players and the black ones. The movie speaks for its self and is a must see.
7. Miracle on Ice
This is one of the most inspirational sports movies I’ve ever seen. It is the David verses Goliath story but in hockey form. It taught me that if I push myself hard enough anything can happen.
6. Gladiator
This epic movie takes place thousands of years ago in the time of the Romans. It tells the story of a once respected general turned into a gladiator.
5. Saving Private Ryan
This is my favorite war movie of all time. Lined up with an all star cast this movie will take you for a ride! Though it is fictional it paints the perfect picture of being in war.
4. Glory Road
My overall favorite sports movie! It is the true story of the Texas Western team in 1966 and their road to the national championship. I love how you see the team come closer together as the movie goes along this is a must see to anyone, even if they don’t like sports.
3. Avatar
This was the first major movie to come out in 3d. The animation far exceeds anything I could dream of. That combined with the great story line makes it great.
2. The Prestige
This movie is the story of two magicians in a magic battle. My favorite part is in the end when they reveal how they did all their tricks. It is one of those movies where it starts off at the end and works backwards which makes it fun to watch too.
1.Crash
Words cannot describe this movie. The acting is astounding and the story line is brilliant. The movie is full of suspense. This is the most intense movie I’ve ever seen but the message behind it is very deep. It is a must see any EVERYONE!!!

SIMUN

My first SIMUN experience was better than I thought it was going to be. The atmosphere of everyone in their dress up clothes got me in the mood. I would take 100 days of SIMUN over one day of school anytime. It taught me how to use a parliamentary procedure and how to almost politely insult someone. During the second day of SIMUN we were discussing the topic of having America not sell arms to Zimbabwe due to the riots (in our scenario Zimbabwe was having riots). After I spoke I yelled my time to questions and America ask me, “If the riots continue for … let’s say six months. Do you think we should be able to sell them because it would hurt our economy if we didn’t?” I quickly responded “I believe hundreds of human lives are more important than a small dent in your economy.” This was by far my best moment during SIMUN.

During the weeks coming up to SIMUN I read about 13 articles ranging from the topics of Mexico’s drug war to the Zimbabwe election. I wrote 4 papers, all on different topics, and wrote a quick summary of Germanys history- Germany was my country. Over all I felt like I was well prepared and did a good job. I spoke about 7 or 8 times and asked many questions. I liked getting involved with the people who were writing the resolutions. I never wrote my own but I put in good ideas to make a resolution better. There was one time were I spoke regarding the refugees fleeing China, after I was done I yelled my time to questions. As soon as my mouth shut at least 5 hands flew up, one being Chinas and the others Chinas allies. It felt like I was standing up for hours. Question after question they pounded me. I definitely learned from the mistake of not thinking before you say something.

I am already looking forward to next year. I plan on reading just as many if not more articles on each topic and not focus on my countries background as much. One thing I will do next year is find out who my country agrees with, their allies, and who they don’t see eye to eye with. During the time of caucus I wish I would of known who I could ask to back me up and who to king of stay away from. Over all I had a great time and it convinced me to do SIMUN next year.

Pakistan and the US

What if America invaded Pakistan to secure nuclear weapons?

My initial perception would be against the movement. The idea of a bigger nation using their power and strength would irritate me. But as I would process the situation in my head I would come to the conclusion that it was for the better of all countries.

Pakistan is an unstable country and at any moment the government could be taken over by any strong terrorist group. If the situation were to happen where the government was over thrown the last thing we or any bordering country would want is a situation where a nuclear weapons is in the hands of Al Queda. One thing I would keep in eye on though is to monitor how long the United States is in Pakistan. If United States occupies Pakistan for a long period of time I would get mad and stop supporting what they are doing. If the United States goes into Pakistan it should only be to secure nuclear weapon! If they aren't careful they would find themselves in the same situation they are in in Iraq, "to find weapons of mass destruction" which aren't their.

If United States were to take over and control Pakistan they would potentiality divide the nation and weeken the bond we have with our allies.

Black Boy

Black Boy is an autobiography written by an African American boy during the early 1900's. Though the plot takes place in geto cities of America, he moves around from city to city, it is hard to relate to such a vast culture difference. The opening scene in the book is him when he was about five playing with matches. Being a 5 year old his curiosity gets to him when he holds the match up to the curtain. At the age of five his first thought is not to going yelling to his mom but to run away cause he knows he was going to get beaten. I was amazing to see how different him and my five year old sister are. If she lit are house on fire she would not run away but in stead she run right into the arms of my mom. Once the fire has burnt the house down everyone in the family is safe but the son, who caused the fire, is missing. At this moment my mom would be a wreck in fear she just lost her youngest child. In stead the mom storms around until she finds him and beats him literally half to death! The next week he had to spend in the hospital. Even if Kate, my five year old sister, would have started the fire my mom would have been so grateful to see her the last thing on her mind would be to sculled her.

Because he moves from town to town he finds himself meeting new people very often. When he comes to spent time with his uncle in Detroit he finds himself in unfamiliar territory. He first step he takes into school he feels the tension, but he has felt this many times before. He has been held back many times so he is one of the biggest kids in his grade. In order to establish himself into the new school he decides to start a fight. If I were a new kid in a school the last thing the would cross my mind would be getting into a fight. He easily wins the fight and oddly enough his tatic works and he becomes excepted into the new school.

Top Five Reasons to Watch the World Cup

Every four years their is a tournament. It is not the Olympics but is just as competeive in the eyes or world countries like Brazil and England. But America has never really been able to join in the fun. Soccer just isn't our sport. This summer I'm challenging you to watch the World Cups and here are the top five reasons why.

1) Just as every young boy in America dreams of being the star quarter back on the super bowl team every young boy in about 80% of the countries dream of playing and winning the World Cup. And fr every player in it this is their chance. Every player will be playing as hard as possible and will stop at nothing to win. This will account for amazing skill and great games to watch.

2) America has finally stared to get into soccer, and we need to support that. The division America is in this year will give us a chance to not only advance to the next round but give us a possibility of being a number one seed in the next round. For these reasons you should watch and Support America.

3) This year the World Cup is held in South Africa. For anyone who is not a big fan of soccer this will show you some of the great sights of South Africa and give a taste of their culture.

4) the World Cup, like the Olympics, has a lot of tradition. If your someone who likes watching the OLympics just because of the atmosphere and all the tradition well the World Cup is the same way. People dancing and singing in the streets at night and all the competitors who just love the sport.

5) The last reason to watch it is just for fun. NO matter who you are you can always have a great time watching it.Even if you some hockey player who i anti-soccer you can laugh at all the soccer players who get touched and fall like they were shot. Or you can comment on all the times when some hurts their finger and the trains still bring out the stretcher.

These are just some of the few reasons to watch the World cup and their are many more. Anyone who watched four years ago will never forget when Zidane head butted Materazzi, if something like that happens again you will want to be able to say, "I saw that!"

Bigger Then Life

Did I ever tell you about the time I got my concussion...?

I'd always had a heart for soccer. I loved to play it and I love the challenge I got going up against bigger kids then me. My coach always told me to, "Play with NO fear!" So that's what I did. In order to stand out when playing a team sport like soccer you have to have something no one else has. But for me I was the opposite, I had no fear, and that's what made me good.

It was the second or fourth game in the spring season and we were playing the Plymouth Rain. We had won our last division so the last few games were pretty tough. But their was something about this team that made them look unstoppable. They had speed skill and plenty of size. They out matched our team in ever categorie. Ike the Trojans in 300 we were not scared, we took the field with confidence and straight faces.

As the game moved on the fouls got harder and game more intense. Sean ripped a shot but the goalie saved it with ease. The ball fell off the goalies foot and soared past midfield. With out thinking a sprung into the air. The next parts a little blurry I remember kneeling on the ground one hand on the ground the other clutching my head and blood dripping down my face. I must have looked like a drunk stumbling out of a bar. As soon as I hit the sideline my dinner came up and my coach knew what had happened.

30 minutes later I sat on doctors bench that was as soft as a cloud. I can’t remember his name but I wish I could, he was my savoir. Within ten minutes he had eased the pain from my head. But unfortunately my night wasn’t over. I had to get a cats. scan and wait for the results to come back. While waiting a had o good hour conversation wit a stranger I felt I knew my whole life. They had found a tumor in his torso and he was waiting for the results to see if it was cancerous. We covered every topic from school to religion and back again.

My results came back first so I was unable to find out what happen to him. I went home and could only think of the man I knew as sir and what will become of him. Its amazing how something like a concussion can change your life in such a way.
